A Business Valuation is different from an appraisal, which is the determination of the worth of tangible personal property and/or real property held by a business or individual. A Business Valuation is based on internal and external factors such as a business ownership, financial position, results of current and past operations, forecasts of future operations, competition, the industry in which the company operates and economic conditions.
Business Valuations are often used in the analysis of transactions - such as buying or selling a business; and in litigation – analysis of damages to a business or in divorce matters, for example.
